Mexican Cenotes: Best Dives

The Yucatan Peninsula is a huge limestone platform where fresh water runs like rivers through underground cave systems. Part of this land collapsed after the last ice age more than 8,000 years ago, creating sinkholes called CENOTES, derived from the Mayan word “Dzonot” which means sacred well and were considered the entrance to the mythical underworld by the ancient Maya.

Today, three of the world’s longest underwater cave systems with a length of up to 129 km can be found at the Riviera Maya. One of them belongs to the most spectacular ones with 56 km – Dos Ojos, which means “two eyes”, describing the two circularshaped cenotes shining in daylight.
You will enjoy the experience of unique dives in the world’s finest fresh water caverns.
Highly recommended are 5mm long wetsuits to keep you warm during the dives in approx. 24 degrees cold water.
